Hospitality season 2026: hire earlier, keep longer

Hotels and restaurants that start recruiting in winter finish the season with the same team they opened it with. Those who start in May do not.

Hospitality season 2026: hire earlier, keep longer

Seasonal hospitality has a simple arithmetic problem: permits take weeks, the season lasts months, and a kitchen that opens understaffed rarely catches up.

Start four months before opening

Employers who begin selection in February are able to complete permits, travel and onboarding calmly. Those who start in May end up paying overtime to cover positions that were never filled.

Language matters less than you think

For kitchen and housekeeping roles, basic working language is usually enough. For front-of-house, it is not - and that is exactly where a verified language level in the profile saves an entire interview round.

Retention

Clear shift schedules, accommodation that is not shared beyond capacity, and payment on a fixed date. Nothing exotic - but it is what separates a one-season worker from someone who returns next year.
